PASAY CITY - Axis Knee System is exhibited at the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD)'s booth during the Medical Philippines Expo 2019 held at SMX Convention Center from September 3-5, 2019.

Axis Knee System is an affordable total knee replacement system developed by a team of engineers and surgeons led by Dr. Ramon B. Gustilo. Its research and development is subsidized by DOST-PCHRD that's why it is more affordable compared to other knee replacement systems in the market. What's unique about Axis Knee System is it is the first and only world class Filipino-made knee implant system developed in Southeast Asia. It also uses special instruments to locate the correct alignment of the leg and the correct implant positioning. Axis Knee System is being manufactured by Orthopaedic International, Inc. (OII) in Cabuyao, Laguna and is available nationwide through OII's partner doctors.

Other technologies funded by DOST-PCHRD are also present in the booth exhibit such as Biotek M Dengue Aqua Kit - a rapid dengue detection kit and HERDIN (Health Research and Development Information Network), a database of published and unpublished health researches in the Philippines.
